Accessibility Statement
CiteDash is committed to making research tools usable by every academic — including students, faculty, and librarians using assistive technology.
Our commitment
We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all public marketing pages and the core authenticated product. Accessibility is treated as a product requirement, not an afterthought: every release is reviewed against keyboard-navigation, screen-reader, and colour-contrast criteria before shipping.
Conformance progress
Our internal audit (April 2026) covers the full public surface plus the research, library, projects, and settings flows. Status by criterion:
| Area | Conformance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Perceivable (1.1–1.4) | Substantially conformant | Alt text on all content images; AA contrast on body and interactive elements; reduced-motion respected. |
| Operable (2.1–2.5) | Substantially conformant | Skip-to-content link, full keyboard navigation, focus-visible rings, no time limits on reading. |
| Understandable (3.1–3.3) | Substantially conformant | Language declared; consistent navigation; form errors linked to inputs via aria-describedby. |
| Robust (4.1) | Substantially conformant | Valid HTML; ARIA used sparingly per WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices. |
A formal third-party audit (Deque or Level Access) is planned for late 2026, with the resulting VPAT® published here for institutional procurement teams.
Known limitations
- Some advanced PDF annotation interactions in the research view are not yet fully keyboard-accessible. Workaround: keyboard users can use the citation manager UI to achieve equivalent results.
- Complex data visualisations on the provenance explorer are presented as interactive charts; equivalent tabular data is available via the “Show data table” toggle on each chart.
Native mobile apps
Our iOS app supports VoiceOver and Dynamic Type. Our Android app supports TalkBack and follows Material 3 accessibility guidance. Both apps are tested against the platform’s own accessibility scanners on each release.
Reporting an accessibility issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact us at accessibility@citedash.ai. We treat accessibility bugs at the same severity as functional bugs and will respond within two business days.
For institutional procurement, we can provide our latest VPAT response on request — see Security for the full vendor questionnaire process.
