The thesis is defended. Now your supervisor wants the journal article. The sections below walk the same journey in detail, useful whether you ride the wizard or drive the tools yourself.

1. Start from what you have

If you wrote the thesis in CiteDash, your chapters, library, and verification ledger are already in place. Skip ahead. If the thesis lives in Word, import the .docx into Thesis Editor: the importer brings your text in and relinks its citations to real papers in your library, so you start with grounded prose rather than dead strings.

2. Pick the venue before you cut

Open Submission Readiness and run venue matching: candidate journals ranked by real semantic fit against your abstract. Choose the target first, because it decides everything downstream: the word budget, the section structure, and the citation style. Set that style on the project once and every rendering surface follows it.

3. Compress chapter by chapter

Work through the manuscript one section at a time in Thesis Editor. The literature review shrinks hardest: rather than trimming sentences, redraft the section with Write with AI framed on your research question. It regenerates a tight version grounded in the same library, with every claim cited and verified. Your Results section condenses from the analyses you already persisted in Data Analysis, so the numbers can't drift from what was computed.

For prose you want to keep but tighten, use Proof Reader's Revise: the rewrite streams in as a preview, citations are locked by construction (an edit can never drop or invent one), and any cited claim whose wording changed is re-verified against its source before you apply. This is the step that makes hours out of weeks: aggressive cutting with zero risk of silently breaking a citation.

4. Watch for compression overclaims

Shortening is where careful claims lose their qualifiers: "associated with, in two RCTs" quietly becomes "causes". You don't have to catch this by eye: run verify-all and the Fact Checker re-judges every cited sentence against full text. A claim that was supported at thesis length and drifted during compression comes back partial or unsupported, with the source passage shown so the fix is a ten-second rewrite.

5. Restyle the references

Nothing to do by hand. The Reference Manager renders your bibliography from the same citation rows in whatever style the venue requires (APA, MLA, Chicago, or IEEE) via a real CSL processor. If the venue wants LaTeX, export BibTeX with your original cite keys intact.

6. Check readiness, then package

Submission Readiness gives you the honest mirror: claims verified, originality screened, no retracted references. Green here means Fact-Checker-confirmed, not vibes. Then build the submission package: a cover letter and the AI-use disclosure generated from your actual audit trail, zipped and ready for the portal; compile the manuscript in the Thesis Assembler and its PDF joins the bundle.
