A thesis is a long road, and it’s easy to lose the thread between reading, analysing, and writing. Question → Thesis is a guided rail that walks you through all ten stages, orchestrating every CiteDash tool, and pausing wherever the scholarly judgement is yours: you pin the question, you screen the papers, your data stays your own, and nothing compiles over unverified claims without your say-so.

Question & Concept Map

Pin the one research question your whole thesis answers, then turn it into a concept map: a grounded diagram of your key concepts and how they connect, each link cited to real papers.

Step 3 · 4

Library & Synthesis

Search, upload, and screen your papers, then build an evidence matrix and a grounded synthesis of the literature, optionally as a full PRISMA systematic screen with a flow diagram.

Step 5

Design & analyse

Draft your study design, then (for empirical work) upload your dataset and run the analysis. CiteDash computes real statistics from your data and never invents any; a pure literature review skips this step.

Step 6 · 7

Draft & Refine

The AI drafts each chapter from your own grounded work (the literature review from your synthesis, methodology from your design) as starting drafts you edit. The Proof Reader then polishes style and checks the whole thesis for cross-chapter coherence.

Step 8 · 9

Verify & Compile

Resolve any claim the Fact Checker couldn't confirm (before you compile, not after), then stitch everything into one formatted PDF, Word, or LaTeX document with a title page, contents, and bibliography.

Run the originality pre-check, download the submission-ready file, and follow the guide to your institution's binding Turnitin / iThenticate check. The flow ends not at a raw file, but a checked, submission-ready thesis.

Guided, never automated

An “Auto-run to next checkpoint” button runs the mechanical steps (searching, extraction, drafting) and stops at every human checkpoint where judgement is yours. It never replaces a decision and never invents data, and each step’s progress is derived live from your real work, so the flow and the individual tools always agree.

How do I write a thesis step by step?

Pin one research question, map the concepts it involves, build a screened library and a synthesis of what the literature says, design the study and analyse any data, draft each chapter from that grounded work, verify every claim, then compile and run the pre-submission checks. The guided flow walks those stages in order and shows which are done, so the next action is always obvious.

Does the AI write the thesis for me?

No. It produces starting drafts built from your own screened library and your own analysis, which you then edit. Every claim it writes carries a citation to a real paper, and any claim it cannot ground against that paper's full text is flagged rather than smoothed over. The argument stays yours.

What if my thesis is a literature review with no data of my own?

The design and analysis stage is skipped. The flow is method-aware: a literature-based thesis moves from synthesis straight to drafting, while an empirical one takes in a dataset and computes real statistics first.

Can I leave the flow and use the individual tools instead?

Yes, at any point. The flow is a wrapper over the ordinary tools, and everything it creates is ordinary project data. Progress is derived live from the real state of your work, so the flow and the tools can never disagree about what is finished.

Where does it stop and ask me to decide?

At four checkpoints: your research question, the screening decisions, the data or design sign-off, and the compile. The auto-run button clears the mechanical stretches between them and halts at each one. It never makes a judgement call on your behalf.
