Style converter FAQ

How does the conversion work?

Each pasted reference is matched against the open scholarly catalogs, then re-rendered from the real record by the same citation engine and official style files CiteDash uses for whole thesis bibliographies. Nothing is reformatted by guesswork.

Why did some references not convert?

A reference only converts when it can be confidently matched to a catalog record. Journal articles match very well; books, reports and web pages without a DOI match less often. Unmatched entries are listed untouched, because a silently wrong conversion is worse than an honest miss.

Which styles are supported?

APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago (both systems), Turabian, MHRA, IEEE, Vancouver, AMA, Nature and ACS, in any direction.

Is my reference list stored?

No. The conversion is stateless and pasted text is never logged. Only anonymous match-rate counts are kept to improve the tool.
