The written assessment examiners produce on a thesis, stating its strengths, weaknesses, required changes, and a recommended outcome.
An examiner report is the formal written evaluation of a submitted thesis. Each examiner typically assesses the originality of the contribution, the soundness of the methodology, the quality of the analysis and writing, and whether the work meets the standard for the degree. The report ends with a recommendation, such as pass, pass with minor or major revisions, resubmission, or failure.
Depending on the system, reports may be written before the defense to guide questioning, or afterward to record the outcome. They usually include a list of required and suggested changes.
For students, the report is a working document, not just a verdict. Treat every required change as an item to address explicitly, and keep a response table showing where each point was handled in the revised thesis. That record is often required when revisions are checked and makes final approval faster.
