Where do RIS files come from?
EndNote, Mendeley, Web of Science, Scopus and most journal databases export RIS. If a download is called citation.ris or export.ris, this is the format inside.
How are the BibTeX cite keys chosen?
First author's family name plus the year, like Lovelace2023, with a number appended when two entries would collide. You can rename keys freely after pasting into your .bib file.
Which entry types are supported?
Journal articles, books, chapters, conference papers, theses, reports, datasets, web pages and generic records. Unknown RIS types fall back to a misc entry rather than being dropped.
Is my data stored?
No. The conversion runs statelessly and nothing you paste is saved.
